Sometimes, It’s Good To Waste Time

Life is busy. The time for which we are on the planet earth is limited. Does that mean we must make the best use of every bit of second for which we live?

Life is busy. Time is limited. The time for which we are on the planet earth is limited. Does that mean we must make the best use of every bit of second for which we live? If yes, for what?

What’s the purpose of life? Well, I think there is no one purpose in life. Instead, there are “purposes.” After all, who have only one goal or purpose in life. We all have many, leaving anomalies aside. However, out of all the purposes we have in life, one very most important is to be happy and healthy.

These days, being busy is appreciated. Not just appreciated, but worshipped. Most of us think that at all times, we should be doing something meaningful, something productive, something that makes a difference in the world. But, why? For what?

Well, the answer we will get is either no answer or —the most likely answer— that “being busy” is what we supposed to be in this super busy world where everybody seems to be running. A world which is more competitive than ever, which is more connected than ever, which is more productive than ever, and which has more things to offer than ever.

Among all the clutter and busyness, we, sometimes, forget that always making planned use of time to get most done is not going to add anything valuable to life without hurting the quality of our lives.

Well, I want to say that occasionally, it’s good to waste time. Waste time on activities that, you know, are not going to give you any material results. Waste time to listen to a bit more of music you love. Waste time on reading a book that in no way is related to the business or job you are into. Waste time to start a Sunday morning at a slow pace. Waste time by sitting idle, doing nothing, relaxing, and enjoying nature, experiencing the wind flowing around you, or doing an activity without an agenda.

Occasionally, waste time. Sometimes, it’s good to waste time.

I believe that occasional waste of time has the power to let our brains get the refreshment it needs to stay active, let us enjoy and cherish the unnoticeable things and moments of our lives. It has the power to make our lives better and happy with an element of unplanned joy.

Occasionally, waste time. Sometimes, it’s good to waste time.
